A Gentleman's Inspiration: Vanishing Elephant

Dear Reader:

During the entire span of my high school experience, I worked at a 50's style diner with my childhood best friend slaving to make soft serve delicacies and  jumbo pizza pies for my hometown. While this sounds like the beginning of a John Hughes film, Anthony Michael Hall I am not.

Looking back on those days now makes me grin, but at the time I felt like a hot teenage mess. The steady stream of soft serve dripping down my arms in the Summer heat. Ketchup dispensers exploding in my face. (Don't ask.) Rockin' Robin playing on repeat. And the popular kids with their families glaring at me over the counter. Dare I say more?

The only thought that kept me from drowning myself in a jumbo vat of cole slaw was Australia. My best friend and I swore that we'd take all of our ice cream earnings and go on holiday to Sydney. Surfing and sunning. Cage diving to the depths of the ocean to meet a Great White to fulfill our ultimate Shark Week fantasies. We'd likely never come back.

But unfortunately like most childhood fantasy trips, this never came to fruition. Sigh. So every now and again, I need to get my Australian fix which is why I couldn't be more thankful for Vanishing Elephant. The distinct mens line allows the rawness of the Australian wild to unfold with the use of color, but keeps it contained with fine classic tailoring. The deep burgundy shoes, salmon sweater, and gray muted cardigan superbly capture the range of the Outback landscape. (Or at least how this Yank envisions it.) While the slim fit tartan suit gives the line a sharp dapper edge.

Go Aussie, indeed.

Peace. Love. And Shark Week.
