A Gentleman's Inspiration: A Christmas Story
Dear Reader:
The 1983 film A Christmas Story is one of many timeless American holiday classics. It might put more evidence into the case file that I am clinically insane, but I have to admit that I actually enjoy TBS's 24/7 showing of the film on Christmas Day. Each time I view it, I have a new favorite moment. Randy's Oink-Oink. You'll Shoot Your Eye Out. The Triple Dog Dare . The Hot Leg Lamp. And of course, The Bully Beat Down.
But this year, I couldn't help but notice that beyond the comedic chops that each of these young actors finely displayed there was first and foremost a real essence of style. Style that should be duly noted.
And added to my closet. Stat.

The Triple Dog Dare.

Center, Schwartz's mixture of patterns with the bold stripes of his hat and polka dot scarf is a brave choice that probably required some internal triple dog daring. Next, Ralphie with school boy glasses and that smart plaid blazer. Right, the unknown friend who in my humble opinion is the style champ of the film with the plaid ear muffs and the beige toggle jacket.

Take a risk in the New Year with a tip from our man Schwartz: Try mixing and matching bold prints. Like with these mix and match sets from Topman's Winter Accessories.
Try an updated Ralphie School Boy look with these sleek Tom Ford Aviator Sunglasses. Guaranteed to be resistant against BB Gun Particles. Or go for the more traditional with this sly tweed blazer from menswear staple J. Press.

Be the Style Champ with a Toggle. Yes, I know that makes no sense. But Toggle jackets really are rad.
These are a few of my favorites from Urban Outfitters. Top it all off with this wool plaid trapper hat from Timberland just for kicks.

The Bully Beat Down.

Left, my personal Half Pint Idol, Grover Dill's sharp newsie cap. Right, the infamous Scut Farkus with his fitted leather jacket because every true rebel needs a bad ass leather jacket.
You can get Mr. Dill's look with this fine Barbour cap, but you'll have to supply the right hook yourself.

So you think you're a tough guy, huh? Try this Schott Classic Ride Leather Jacket and you'll be part of the Farkus clan in no time. Just practice your snarl.
