Whistle Wetters: Esquire's 1949 Handbook for Hosts

With the chill in the air growing increasingly more apparent, not only is it time for a sweater, it is time for a Sidecar. The origin of this drink is supposedly around the time of WWI for a regular patron of the Ritz in Paris. One wintry day he road his motorcycle with a sidecar to the bar, and needed a drink to warm him up. The barkeep thus concocted....you guessed it...the Sidecar.

The Sidecar

2/3 Brandy
1/3 Cointreau
Dash of lime juice

Shake with ice and strain into frosty cocktail glass.
