A Lady's Lesson: Interview with Katherine Kennedy

Who's that Girl?

If you've ever been out and about in Georgetown or to a charity event in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, you already know the answer: Katherine Kennedy. At first glance, it is immediately understood that she is absolutely gorgeous. But beneath those blonde locks are an enterprising spirit and a kind, compassionate heart. A heart that has traveled around, not just this fair city, but the world raising funds and awareness for so many charities that this Half Pint has lost count.  If you don't believe me, see her in action for yourself as the reigning blonde this Fall on the CW's Blonde Charity Mafia.

Recently, Ms. Kennedy was kind enough to take a few moments to finish my trio of BCM interviews. We discussed her rules of thumb for gentleman,  her charity work, and stretch hummers.

Yes you read correctly, dear reader, I actually asked Katherine Kennedy a question about stretch hummers. I have an obsession, what can I say.

Describe DC men in 3 words:
Ambitious, Idealistic, Predictable.

Who are the most influential men in your life and why?
My father Kevin Kennedy, CEO of Avaya, without a doubt. While I take after my mother far more than my father, his persistence in striving for success, never falling complacent and always remaining humble are three characteristics I truly appreciate. He has always put his family first, and no matter how hard I try, I always lose to him at a game of HORSE on the basketball court.

Name one item that all DC men should have:
Manners. There is no sexier accessory that goes with every outfit & occasion- truly timeless.

You do a substantial amount of charity work around the world. What are a few of charitable organizations that men should be more a part of?
I think philanthropy is a very personal experience, and something that one must be passionate about. For your adventurous male readers, I would really urge them to check out some Volunteer Vacations which allow you to immerse yourself in a foreign culture while flexing your muscles on the beach, getting a tan ,and playing soccer with the kids.

OneBrick
also allows for flexible volunteering in D.C. and other major cities, a great way to find out where your passions lie. A few causes near and dear to my heart: TOMS Shoes, The UN Foundation's "Nothing But Nets" Campaign, and Ready, Willing, and Working.

I can be slightly disorganized at times, but you handle your hectic schedule with such grace.
What are some organizational tips that you could give unorganized gentlemen like myself?
File for "Blackberry Bankruptcy" and start over. Oh, and buy a CardScan...

You attend some of the best events in DC. What are Three KK Rules of Thumb that all
men should follow when attending these events?
1) Go Solo. Sometimes it is too difficult to entertain a date AND enjoy the party.

2) Hold your drink in your left hand so you never give a cold, wet, sloppy handshake.

3) Don't be the last man on the dance floor, I really hope you have something to do in the morning and pulling an Irish Exit can add a hint of mystery.

Now, the lightening round...

Tuxedo or Suit?
A very well tailored, jet black suit, partnered with an elegant watch. Versatility is key, you never know where you are going to end up!

Towncar or Stretch Hummer?
Towncar.

Miller Lite or Stella?
Stella.

Is Tuesday the New Thursday?
D.C.'s Tuesday is everyone else's Spring Break.

On a personal note....

After years of rejection, can you please get this Half Pint on the list at Smith Point of Georgetown?
I'll call Bo.

(Yes, I use interviews with beautiful women to promote my own interest. Don't judge me. This is the Nation's Capitol, its how things are done.)
